Morning : Star :

No matter how hard you try, there are times when things just don’t go as planned. And, it’s not because you are doing something wrong. It is because the thing you are after is not designed for you. It is not a part of your destiny-

The subtle art of paying attention to the details in the present moment – Mindfulness. We don’t often “think” we are engaged in the process of being mindful  Whether through practicing yoga early one morning, listing to the birds playing riding to work, taking in the beauty of a lone daisy swaying in a field Without getting caught up in where these moment may be leading us.

The past week has been rough, I have to admit that it’s been hard to focus on the present moment; my reckless past and  gentle future seem to be taking up all the free space in my brain these days (which isn’t much to begin with). My practice of Ahiṃsā, has fallen out of balance of late as well. Pushing a little too hard mountain bike racing, and not paying attention while commuting to work – Life pro tip: Railroad tracks are “slippery when wet” … Not honoring my true spirit and self has been anything but mindful of late.

Daily Meditation:

This beautiful moment right now, reminds me that the present moment contains the possibility for all things, including freedom from suffering, picking splinters and little gravel bits from the battered left side of my body. Being mindful right now? Is not going to make my bruises and scars magically disappear, reverse the abuse I have put my body through this past week, put the Colorado Avalanche back in playoffs, or even re true my front wheel.

My Dear Reader(s) we are here, in this beautiful – crazy mess for other reasons as well … To marinate in this tender (literally) moment – fully present and mindful. Have a fantastic weekend, and please take care!

Colorado?! Patrick Roy?!!! Load Lemieux…Turtle? Oh, did I mention my Red Wings tattoo? Yeah, two Stanley Cups, back to back, wrap around my right arm. We might have to race brother. LOL.

Have a good weekend pal. Thanks for getting me amped up. ;)

No worries! I’m in a sad state as an Avs fan – Here in Nebraska for whatever reason (I’m blaming Gary Bettman) … Their games are blacked out in this market. Full disclosure – I have watched more Red Wings games this past season than ever before. It pains me to even admit this, but (deep breath) … Maybe, just maybe I was rooting for them in the playoffs! I can’t believe I just wrote that, needless to say I feel great shame. ;)
Have a great weekend mate! Oh and one more thing – Todd Bertuzzi is still on my hit list!!!

Ouch! Sorry to hear you took a tumble. Hope you’re healing nicely. Definitely agree about mindfulness. Stop, take a moment, feel how your body is really feeling and then take action accordingly. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of life gets in the way though doesn’t it? Take it easy and be kind to yourself :)

Definitely took it easy this weekend :) I tumble often, its part of riding a bunch and putting in a lot of miles. Often at times I don;t quite listen to my body well enough – Hence, tumbles that can be avoided? I fall right into them! Take care on this beautiful Monday morning!

  4. The present moment has been on my mind too! I just finished a post myself about it then saw yours….Great post! ✌️the present moment isn’t always the most comfortable but it can teach is a lot about who we are. 👍

I’m genuinely moved by your kind, thoughtful comment – Thank you! Often at times we don’t practice what we preach, and needless to say I have been my own worst enemy of late. Take care this week and please be well!

Sorry you had a fall. Ouch! May you heal quickly. Energies on the planet have been intense, so hard for most people to stay grounded.

One time in SF, I was riding down the street and got my bike’s front wheel in the tire tracks and had to lift me and the bike up and out of them while still going forward. Glad i managed that.

    Please be gentle on yourself!

You and I shared a similar experience, railroad tracks and drainage covers seem to appear out of nowhere when I ride early in the morning. :)

  6. Mindfulness is tough, isn’t it? May the left side of your body heal soon!

Mindfulness is immensely tough!! As odd as it may seem, I needed to take a little tumble … To help bring my body – mind and spirit back into balance. :)
