Fill you mind with the meaningless stimuli of a world preoccupied with meaningless things, and it will not be easy to feel peace in your heart-

Today’s Sign of the Apocalypse: THIS

A show of hands this morning:  You work out because you want to look Hot and Sassy?!?  We all want to look like the women/dudes in those titillating magazines at the local bookstore.  The only thing these magazines are good for?  Is raising doubts within you!  We do not encounter these images in our lives but rather we are confronted by them everywhere we look.  As you wander around the market today looking for the best price on kale and goose berries you feel like you quite can’t find what you are looking for.  This woman over here seems to have everything you want…

What do you want anyways?  Do you want people to look at you and instantly lose themselves in orgasmic thoughts?  Do you want people to look at you in lust?  Want to know something?!?  You are not a fat cow!  A weakling!  A pathetic loser!  Let’s take a moment for you to press the rewind button to re-play how many times you have compared yourself to others and put yourself down this week so far…These past 48 hours don’t look so well do they?

The voices deep whiten you will continue to cast doubt and judgement against you at every turn, that’s OK!  Brother Caleb is a classic example of “This Person”…Just mention Tom Brady before you go on a run with him and watch what happens next!

The Plan-

The Workout-

Recently discovered in our “The Devil is in the Details” series of torturous programs…

A nice Walk maybe to Warm Up?  Yeah, a Walk to Warm Up…Who would have ever thought?!?

Ten rounds of the following:

3 Perfect Chest to Bar Pull Ups  *rest 20 seconds

30 Second High Push Up Plank *rest 20 seconds

50m Heavy Farmers Walk (Out and Back)

Notes:

Its a rather brilliant and splendid day outside…Be well and ENJOY!!!

I really like this blog entry. It’s true: one of the main reasons I exercise daily is to…when I grow up…look like one of those model-type dudes that could sell ice to eskimos simply making their pecs salsa. But more importantly, I run daily in order to improve my speed and endurance. I really think that everyone needs to find something that truly motivates them – and then use that motivation to get off the couch and get in motion. I just noticed one of those mobile ads whilst standing in an elevator: 30% of all Americans say that they don’t exercise. At all. Got to admit: that worried me.

  2. Spot on about the “Do you want people to look at you and instantly lose themselves in orgasmic thoughts? Do you want people to look at you in lust?”!
Get in shape so SOMEONE will LOVE YOU.
How ’bout put the stupid waste of money advertisement vehicle in the trash where it belongs and go for a walk. Maybe you’ll meet someone nice who also likes to walk. And maybe you will walk together.

So true, this is something that really “bugs” me not only as someone who helps train people away from this blog-o-thing but as a father and husband as well. If we just accept who we are, life is so much easier. Thank you for reading today :)

I might have to steal the devil overlooking the church picture. And what’s with the chocolate bars in the Wellness and Essentials section of the gas bar? That sh!t is bananas.

By all means feel free to borrow any pics you like! What sealed the deal with the wellness pic is the $1.00 off coupons right there!!! An offer to good to refuse!

  4. Great blog post, I wish everyone was motivated to workout and eat healthy for their own health and longevity rather than trying to look like the women/men they see on magazines. You get the best results when you do it for yourself, not to try to be visually pleasing for others.

PS. I love Christian Bale and I love the GIF image would it be okay if I Posted it on Single Gals site?

    Cheers!

  5. LOL! you video is funny, and creepy at the same time.

I am thankfully less inundated with that message since I don’t hardly ever watch regular tv outside of football season. Still, you are correct in that everywhere you turn there is an image of what you are not. I started my exercise/healthy eating program to lower my cholesterol by losing weight and eating right. Once I got down to what was my target rate I realized that for perhaps the first time in my life I actually looked good in clothes. I went from being a scrawny person to a fat person in very little time and this is the first time in my life I’ve looked like a “fit” person.

I will admit though, now that I have reached and am maintaining that weight, there is some motivation to build muscle and to improve the physique and when I see the cut bodies in Men’s Health there is some desire to look like that. But not enough to pay the price that sometimes has to be paid to look that unreal. For example, I won’t “diet”. I hate that word. I watch my calories and eat really good for me food and I space my meals and snacks in such a way that I won’t be hungry. I work out regularly but am unwilling to commit to the kind of gym time it would take to look that fit. So when I realize that I don’t get so bothered by the fact that I won’t look like those guys. The fact is I look good and feel good about the way that I look. I’ve spent the whole of this year so far working to get into this shape and rather than ignore my progress I choose to revel in what I’ve accomplished.

I work out so I can keep up with my Daughter, she loves training for Terry Fox sprints. Sadly her Asthmas kept her out this year, but kid has a heart of gold and still practices. So I don’t need the Hot and Sassy, the demographic I am aiming for is happy, then so am I.

That Christian Bale gif is priceless.

  10. Hi there. That was a great pep talk you gave . We all need a good talking to from time to time. BTW, I love your pics…and the funny man on the video also.
I’ve been really busy the last few days, so in case I forgot to mention it before now, I sencerely thank you for giving me the beautiful blogger award. I was surprised, and also very delighted.

I’m loving the celebrity clips. Christian Bale is yummy!

  13. True it is hard not to put yourself down… so many others do in actions or words. I read a blog where it personalised the negitive as a bad aunt and my husband and I remind each other to tell her to get lost when negitve ideas or thoughts start to creep in. It is hard work though!
Thanks for the visit over at CTB ; D

So true…. I do workout to look good ( or now to look like I use to before baby). Sometimes I gvet so wrapped up in trying to lose these last 10 pounds that I forget the other reason why I workout… to get healthy, stay healthy, feel great, and be a good role model for my son

    • CultFit says:

Thank you for having a look around :)
Staying healthy can be hard and fraught with challenges at each and every turn … “to get healthy, stay healthy, feel great, and be a good role model for my son.”

These are some really great reasons! Take care and be well!!!
