When intelligence and wit arose, There appeared great hypocrites-

Alright now peeps, quick show of hands this morning:  How many of you had an emotional breakdown when you were gently slapped by  the alarm at 6am?  “Back to work, back to running, back to working out again!  Could this get any worse?!?”

Today will be a struggle, no doubt about this in our mind.  Although those of you who continually battle “Rest Days“, “Down Days“, “Holidays” and pretty much any other day where you don’t get a run in?  Don’t blame or place your unhappiness on circumstance.  Why spend so much time and energy dwelling on the worst possible outcome?

The Plan-

**Any guess as to who this is?!?  Mr. O’Driscoll…This is how you bring joy into someones life!  Good on you mate!**

The Workout-

Simple one today really…Just head off in some Random direction for about 20-30 minutes or so…Turn around and head back home.

Trail Run/Hike/Walk/Bike…You get the point!

Now when you arrive back home in one piece and energized to do some work.  Pick three of your favorite movement and perform the following scheme for each:

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

Notes:

The trick or catch today is this:  On the ride home during The Workout…Do you dread moving the weight?  Or are you looking forward to it after a long holiday weekend?  This could be considered the CultFit litmus test peeps?!?  Yesterday we had the chance to pen a guest post over at His Dark Side.  If you peeps have a few precious seconds you can take away from updating your Facebook timeline…Head on over to check His Dark Side out!  Have fun today and ENJOY!!!

  1. somedays its really bad when u just want to snuggle deeper into the quilt rather than wake up and working out

      I completely understand what you mean! Normally once I get up and moving things are ok? How about for you?

    • True!! But some days the getting up itself is difficult.Am going thru a rough patch actually….I need work…when there is a low feeling then one tends to lose sight of anything

  2. How true is that alarm statement! But it was my wife instead….

    You gave me a great idea with your reverse pyramid count. Time to do some heavy KB “Good Morning” Swings to get the oxygen into the lungs so I can go for a long ride today.

    And that Lifestyle 550 stationary bike was my best friend sometimes at my grandparent’s house. That is what taught me that breaking a sweat in a workout was a good feeling in the end!

      This workout is something I have done in the past to hit the proverbial reset button after a time away from training. A good exercise bike can be a really useful tool to have around, even if it chained up to a bike rack! I’m still trying get me act together after reading your man grooming post…Having been to few NASCAR events in the past: “That dude” in the picture is at each and every one!

      Please write back to tell us how you did and what movements you choose to do.

    • Simple walk. For strength training, I’m focusing on my core. I have to be careful, as I have pelvic floor issues and abdominal separation. Side leg raises to strengthen my very weakened abductors, hip bridge raises for my glutes, and modified cat pose for my abs.

      Inverse pyramid workouts like this one make me wanna yell “mama!” I may not be able to walk tomorrow. ;-)

      Its really good that you are listening to and respecting your body in regards to your injuries. A long time ago I think I may have written a bit about why I choose this scheme after a few days off or rehabbing an injury (which I am an expert at by the way). I’m looking for one perfect movement by the time we get down to one rep, not the hardest or dirtiest. One, perfection. 10-9-8-7 are for setting the tone…6-5-4…Time to put some heart into them…3-2…Confidence, maybe add some weight and finally 1 perfect rep.

  5. No Joke! It was hard to get going with the workouts today, but had to do it (and my members would be mad if I didn’t show up!). Stationary bike pic – pretty funny.

    Before anyone accuses me of being a hypocrit, I think that it’s important to know that I struggle with this too, but if you put on your Pollyanna Pants and look for the good in getting up by alarm clock, it won’t be quite so maddening to crawl out of bed 2+ hours before you’d like to.

    For example:
    ::ALARM:: OH JOY! Another opportunity to get up and put my body to the test. I can’t read/eat/say hello to friends via telecommunication device if I stay in bed all day. LAZY MARY WILL YOU GET UP? WILL YOU GET UP?

      I would never do that! I know that over the years my priorities have changed in regards to waking up early. Maybe it’s a sign of me getting up there in years, who knows?
